Unlike the stile shot (see gallery), which was taken a mere 200 metres away, this photograph was one I’d had in mind for several years. I was drawn to the wonderful curve of the hillside with the farm nestling below but had never been there when the conditions were right. I set out on this late December morning not particularly hopeful of getting any shots as I felt that I had missed the best light and low clouds were moving in. However the sun began to struggle through and the resulting soft, diffused light was perfect for bringing the best out of the stunning moorland grasses.
