I was exploring this small nature reserve, managed by Lancashire & Cheshire Wildlife Trust, looking for bluebell shots but this tangled pile of moss covered branches was far more interesting. The vibrant green of the wood, with the brown earth background, being the exact opposite of the dark brown tree and its surround of fresh green leaves.

Reserved Landscapes
I am now much more open to a wider variety of landscapes than I used to be and get as much pleasure photographing the quieter corners of the countryside as the big, dramatic vistas. I am currently engaged in a long term project with Lancashire Wildlife Trust to photograph the landscapes of their reserves. I enjoy the challenge of seeking out compositions to reflect these places and their quieter nature. This gallery will showcase my work for the Trust together with other photos of nature reserves in the North West.
