Rock, Borrowdale
I kept being drawn to this small quarry as I explored the landscape near the Bowder Stone. Eventually I decided to make an image but increasingly felt a sense of familiarity about it. I began to wonder whether it was a Charlie Waite image I'd seen in one of his books but it was only after trawling through my bookshelf that I discovered that this rockface featured in Paul Wakefield's book 'Britain' from 1984 - another example of subconscious influences. What is also curious is how much less lichen there is now on the rock!
